About the role
Our client, a leading mining operator, is looking for two experienced Site Managers to lead all operational activities at their Rustenburg opencast mine. The role demands strict compliance with legal, safety and environmental standards while driving performance, efficiency and cost control.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement effective operational plans for hard‑rock opencast mining.
- Ensure maintenance schedules are followed and breakdowns are resolved promptly.
- Conduct VFL visits, enforce safety programmes and maintain site housekeeping standards.
- Maintain budgetary control, prepare accurate financial reports and manage costings.
- Oversee drilling and blasting operations, ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Prepare and submit client and mining reports, plant hours, utilisation and diesel consumption records.
- Provide on‑the‑job training, coaching and competency development for staff.
- Liaise daily with clients and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
Required profile
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Site Manager in hard‑rock opencast mining.
- Surface Blasting Ticket with at least 3 years’ experience as a Contracts Manager in hard‑rock mining.
- Diploma or relevant qualification in Mining or Civil Engineering.
