Shopping Centre Operations Manager (Super Regional) – Johannesburg

About the role

The Shopping Centre Operations Manager will be responsible for the efficient management of a super‑regional retail centre in Johannesburg. Reporting to the Centre Manager, you will oversee facilities, maintenance, security, cleaning and all tenant‑related operational services, ensuring a safe and professional environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day centre operations, including maintenance, security, cleaning and contracted service providers.
• Implement and monitor planned preventative maintenance programmes for mechanical, electrical and plant assets.
• Conduct regular inspections, maintain accurate asset registers and ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
• Oversee health, safety and environmental compliance, conduct inspections and manage incident reporting.
• Develop and maintain emergency, business continuity and security procedures, liaising with SAPS and local authorities.
• Prepare and monitor operational, repairs & maintenance and capital expenditure budgets, track utility consumption and drive cost efficiencies.
• Act as the primary operational contact for tenants, handling complaints, coordinating services and ensuring compliance with centre policies.
• Lead and supervise the operations team, set performance objectives and manage training and development.

Required profile

• Matric / Grade 12 qualification; a tertiary qualification in Facilities Management, Property Management or a related field is advantageous.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in facilities or centre operations within a retail environment.
• Proven ability to manage contractors, budgets and health & safety compliance.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
