Shift Wheat Miller

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Shift Wheat Miller to lead the mill’s production shift, ensuring optimal performance, product quality and cost efficiency. The role involves managing equipment, staff productivity and overall plant capacity to meet production targets.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain continuous equipment availability and reduce downtime.
• Achieve target mill yield while minimizing milling downtime.
• Prepare and submit production and quality analysis reports.
• Operate the mill according to scheduled production plans and ensure timely order fulfillment.
• Monitor inventory, report stock variances and manage in‑process stocks.
• Optimize production efficiency, yield and quality while reducing rejects.
• Identify and drive continuous‑improvement projects and cost‑saving initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and food‑safety regulations.
• Lead and train mill staff, address training gaps and promote teamwork.

Required profile

• Qualified wheat, maize or sorghum miller (GMF Trade Test).
• Minimum 3 years proven experience running a wheat, maize or sorghum mill shift.
• Additional certifications such as City & Guilds Advanced Flour Milling or membership of the National Association of British & Irish Millers are an advantage.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• High energy, discipline and commitment to safety and quality.
