Shift Transport Controller

About the role

We are looking for a Shift Transport Controller to oversee our fleet and transport team at the Cape Town hub. The role ensures optimal productivity, vehicle utilisation and compliance with performance benchmarks within our temperature‑controlled logistics network.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the daily schedule and allocate job cards to drivers.
• Ensure drivers complete morning and afternoon checklists and vehicle inspection forms.
• Monitor transport performance using vehicle exception reports (speeding, excessive revving, yard delays, etc.) and take appropriate disciplinary action.
• Conduct physical vehicle checks, record maintenance and repair needs, and coordinate with the workshop.
• Report daily truck status to the Transport Manager and reconcile hired‑truck kilometres with supplier shipments.
• Optimise vehicle loading, update the Vehicle Utilisation Report and oversee route planning.
• Compile monthly cost analysis for each truck and maintain accident/incident records.
• Track overtime and casual labour usage through the BLICK system.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a fleet or transport team in a logistics environment.
• Strong attention to detail for vehicle inspections and maintenance reporting.
• Ability to enforce performance standards and handle disciplinary matters.
• Effective communication for counselling drivers and coordinating with workshops.
