Shift Technician

About the role

The Shift Technician will join Heineken's production plant to ensure reliable operation of electrical and automation equipment. Working on rotating shifts, you will support continuous production by maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing a range of machinery.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret wiring diagrams and electrical drawings in a plant environment.
• Perform methodical fault finding, detection and maintenance on motors, pumps, control panels and distribution boards.
• Maintain sensor control systems, VSDs, HMIs, switchgear, AC motors, relay logic, temperature controllers and other industrial instrumentation.
• Carry out basic PLC input/output work and repairs on production machinery, including site‑related electrical tasks.
• Adhere strictly to safety procedures, OHS regulations and housekeeping standards.
• Participate in mini‑business operating activities and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Matric certificate and a Trade Certificate as an Electrician.
• 3‑5 years of relevant experience in an FMCG electrical/automation environment.
• Experience with bottling machinery is an advantage.
• Familiarity with Siemens S7 PLCs and high‑speed machinery.
• Self‑motivated, innovative and able to work with limited supervision.
• Strong problem‑solving ability, good communication skills and willingness to work shifts and overtime.

Required skills

• Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams and electrical drawings.
• Fault finding and maintenance of electrical motors, pumps, control panels and distribution boards.
• Sensor control, VSD, HMI, switchgear, AC motors, relay logic, temperature controllers, industrial instrumentation.
• Basic PLC input/output knowledge, especially Siemens S7.
• Repair of production machinery and site‑related electrical work.
