Aftermarket Specialist – Dump Truck Bodies

About the role

Komatsu South Africa is seeking an Aftermarket Specialist focused on Dump Truck Bodies. The role is based at the Komatsu Head Office in Germiston and involves providing technical support, inspections, and warranty management for dump truck bodies used in opencast mining.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and schedule equipment inspections, workshops and service nominations.
• Conduct delivery inspections of dump truck bodies, communicate results to customers and hand over warranties.
• Perform periodic body inspections as agreed with customers and maintain documentation.
• File warranty documents, analyse trend data and complete inspection reports and warranty certificates.
• Oversee warranty repairs on site and drive aftermarket sales orders through technical advice.
• Resolve technical issues by liaising with OEMs and manufacturers.
• Maintain up‑to‑date safety procedures and foster supplier relationships.
• Generate standard reports on contractual agreements and service level agreements.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Mining Engineering (NQF 7).
• 4–6 years of hands‑on experience in welding, steel fabrication and opencast mining equipment.
• Proven technical track record with Komatsu products and strong customer‑service orientation.
• Experience working with suppliers and managing warranty processes.

Required skills

• Welding and steel fabrication.
• Undercarriage systems, filters, oil and lubricants knowledge.
• Advanced use of SAP Quoting, SAP MMBE and SAP WIP.
• Proficiency with CSS Portal and Komtrax.
• Intermediate to advanced MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Valid driver’s licence and knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act.
