Shift Manager – Specialized Vehicles

About the role

The City of Ekurhuleni is seeking a Shift Manager to oversee its specialised emergency vehicles fleet. The role involves ensuring compliance with council policies, statutory requirements and effective operational performance across all shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and manage specialised vehicle services, fleet and equipment in line with council policy and statutory requirements.
• Assist with needs assessment, specification and procurement of materials and equipment for the fleet.
• Monitor and log fleet maintenance and repair activities from inception to completion within the region.
• Liaise with Risk and Insurance regarding impairments and losses of fixed and movable assets.
• Manage teams, define performance parameters and clarify roles to achieve operational goals.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 qualification.
• Relevant fire technology diploma or equivalent qualification (SAESI Diploma, IFE Level 3, or 2nd year National Diploma).
• Valid EC driver’s licence with PrDP.
• Minimum five years’ experience in a large Emergency Services Division or similar environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows Office programs.
• EC driver’s licence with PrDP.
• Operation of pumps and aerial devices.
• Crane, TLB and forklift operation.
