SHEQ Manager – Safety, Health, Environment & Quality Lead

About the role

The SHEQ Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for Safety, Health, Environment and Quality across the Group. This senior position ensures compliance with legislation, regulatory requirements and internal standards while driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain SHEQ policies, procedures, standards and management systems aligned with legislation and organisational goals.
• Oversee occupational health and safety programmes, risk controls, wellness processes and corrective actions from incidents, audits and inspections.
• Lead incident investigations, ensure proper recording, reporting and follow‑up on corrective and preventative actions.
• Design and execute the annual SHEQ audit programme, manage internal and external audits, and ensure timely closure of findings.
• Identify, assess and monitor SHEQ risks, maintain risk registers and drive mitigation actions.
• Manage quality and environmental compliance, handle non‑conformances and support sustainability initiatives.
• Provide SHEQ expertise to senior management, prepare reports, present trends and escalate material risks.
• Lead, coach and develop the SHEQ team, fostering a high‑performance culture.

Required profile

• National Senior Certificate and a NQF Level 7 (3‑year degree or advanced diploma) in Safety Management, Environmental Management, Engineering, Operations Management or Quality Management.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant SHEQ experience, preferably in manufacturing, engineering or heavy‑industry environments.
• Proven people‑management experience with responsibility for compliance and functional delivery.
• Relevant SHEQ/ISO qualification or certification is advantageous.
