Senior/Staff Backend Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior/Staff Backend Engineer to design and deliver high‑performance backend services for AI‑native enterprise finance software. You will own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of core systems that power real‑time accounting and ERP workflows at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale backend systems supporting complex, real‑time financial and ERP processes.
• Develop robust APIs and services using Python and modern frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Own the full software lifecycle: architecture, development, testing, CI/CD pipelines, deployment, and monitoring.
• Collaborate with product teams to translate accounting requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Manage and optimise PostgreSQL databases, including schema design, migrations, and performance tuning.
• Integrate third‑party systems while handling reliability, edge cases, and risk.
• Maintain production‑grade systems capable of handling high complexity and evolving business logic.
• Continuously improve system performance, scalability, and reliability.

Required profile

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong track record building scalable, production‑grade systems with complex business logic.
• Proficiency with cloud infrastructure (AWS or similar).
• Deep expertise in PostgreSQL, SQL, ORM frameworks, schema design, and data migrations.
• Experience designing robust APIs and backend services.
• Solid understanding of software engineering best practices, CI/CD pipelines, and production operations.
• Excellent communication skills in English (C1+).

What we offer

• Base salary range: USD 140,000 – 250,000 per year.
• Equity package: USD 50,000 – 80,000.
