Senior Tax Practitioner

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Tax Practitioner to join our professional services team in Cape Town. You will be responsible for delivering comprehensive tax services to a varied client base while collaborating closely with accountants and senior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage tax compliance for individuals, companies, trusts and deceased estates.
• Prepare, review and submit income tax, provisional tax and dividends tax returns.
• Handle SARS verifications, audits, objections, disputes and requests for reasons.
• Oversee tax registrations, deregistrations and maintain eFiling portfolios.
• Attend to tax directives, voluntary disclosures and complex SARS queries.
• Provide expert tax advice and support to clients.
• Work with accounting staff to deliver integrated accounting and tax services.
• Assist colleagues with technical tax queries and compliance matters.
• Liaise directly with SARS to resolve taxpayer issues efficiently.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of dedicated tax experience covering individuals, trusts and corporate entities.
• Registered Tax Practitioner with SARS and active SAIT or SAICA membership.
• Degree in finance, accounting, tax or a related field.
• Fluent in Afrikaans and English (read, write, speak).
• Own reliable transport and ability to work onsite.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero.
• Experience using Xero Practice Manager.
• Familiarity with Konsise or similar tax software.
• Extensive knowledge of SARS eFiling processes.
