Senior Tax Practitioner

About the role

We are an established professional services firm seeking an experienced Senior Tax Practitioner to join our growing team in Plettenberg Bay. You will manage a diverse portfolio of individual and corporate tax clients, ensure full compliance with South African tax legislation, and provide strategic tax advice.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of individual, trust, company and close corporation tax clients.
• Prepare and submit Income Tax Returns (ITR12, ITR14, Trust Returns) and Provisional Tax Returns.
• Review tax assessments, handle objections, appeals and dispute resolutions with SARS.
• Oversee tax registrations, deregistrations and profile amendments.
• Act as primary liaison with SARS, resolve queries, audits and compliance matters.
• Provide tax planning and advisory services, research legislative updates and advise on tax‑efficient structures.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, presenting complex tax information clearly.
• Review work of junior staff, mentor tax administrators and contribute to process improvements.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Taxation, Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Membership with a recognised professional body (e.g., SAIT, SAIPA, SAICA, ACCA, CIMA).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a tax‑focused role with direct SARS interaction.
• Strong knowledge of South African tax legislation.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and tax‑related software.
• Valid driver’s licence preferred.
