Senior Stock Controller – Theatre

About the role

The Senior Stock Controller – Theatre will be based at Life Groenkloof Hospital and report to the Theatre Manager. The role ensures that pharmaceutical stock for the theatre is managed efficiently, safely and in compliance with all regulatory and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Capture data and control inventory for all theatre stock items.
• Assist doctors with surgical queries and product conversion.
• Maintain databases, including iMeds codes, box codes and preferred stock levels.
• Follow ISO procedures, work closely with pharmacy personnel and communicate with nursing staff and doctors.
• Report 100% of theatre alerts and incidents and manage medication safety.
• Order, receive, rotate and check expiry dates of stock, performing regular cycle counts and stock takes.
• Ensure compliance with LHC quality management systems, SAPC, DOH and legal standards.
• Handle product complaints, manage formulary, and participate in cost‑of‑sales management.
• Monitor stock levels, manage excess, deadstock, negative stock and process transfers promptly.
• Oversee theatre stockroom assets, procurement, distribution and achieve stock‑day targets.

Required profile

• Grade 12 qualification.
• 2–3 years of experience in inventory management, preferably within a pharmacy or hospital environment.
• Knowledge of inventory control processes, procedures and regulatory compliance.

Required skills

• SAPC system proficiency.
• iMeds coding knowledge.
• Familiarity with ISO procedures and standards.
