Senior Security Pre-Sales Engineer

About the role

Obscure is seeking a seasoned Senior Security Pre‑Sales Engineer to join its technical team in Gauteng. This high‑impact, customer‑facing position bridges deep cybersecurity expertise with commercial acumen, allowing you to engage both boardrooms and SOC analysts.

Key responsibilities

• Design and architect tailored security solutions by engaging directly with prospective and existing clients.
• Deliver technical presentations to executives, industry events, and hands‑on workshops.
• Lead deep‑dive technical engagements with security architects, SOC teams, and engineers.
• Plan, scope, and execute product demonstrations and proofs of concept aligned with client objectives.
• Maintain deep technical mastery across nine strategic vendors and act as a trusted advisor.
• Respond to technical sections of RFIs, RFPs, and tenders with accuracy.
• Articulate Obscure’s SOC capabilities, integrating MDR and threat‑intelligence services.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and the SOC team to drive opportunities.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of modern Security Operations Centre (SOC) functions.
• Experience with SOC operating models, tiered analyst structures, and escalation workflows.
• Knowledge of incident detection, triage, response, post‑incident review, and use‑case engineering.
• Familiarity with the MITRE ATT&CK framework and modern threat‑hunting methodologies.
• Ability to communicate complex security concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
