Senior Renewable Energy Engineer (Solar/Wind)

About the role

3E is looking for an experienced Solar and/or Wind expert to join its South Africa team in Cape Town, working in a hybrid setup within the Expert (Engineering) Services department. The role is a key customer contact who oversees end-to-end delivery of consultancy projects, from feasibility to operational monitoring, combining technical due diligence and owner's engineer responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage technical due diligence, advising clients through financial close and assessing technical risks across CAPEX, OPEX and revenue forecasts
• Review and negotiate key contracts such as EPC, O&M, PPA and Wind Turbine Generator Supply agreements for solar and wind projects
• Oversee feasibility studies, construction monitoring, EPC and O&M tender preparation, and contract negotiations
• Carry out on-site acceptance testing and commissioning, and oversee operations to optimise performance and asset integrity
• Review permits, designs and resource assessments, lead technical inspections, and propose risk-mitigation strategies

Required profile

• Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent, with renewable energy (wind and/or solar) specialisation
• At least 5 years in renewable energy, including 3-5 years in wind and/or solar consultancy
• Experience as both Lender's and Owner's Technical Advisor on PV EPC, O&M, PPA and WTG contracts
• Ability to manage Owner's Engineer responsibilities and construction monitoring and inspections
• Willingness to travel for short assignments across Africa; fluent English, French and/or Portuguese an advantage
