Senior Python Backend Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Application Engineer who loves clean backend engineering. You will work primarily with Python, Django and FastAPI to build and maintain high‑performance APIs, integrations and services in a collaborative, cloud‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise backend services, APIs and integrations using Python, Django and FastAPI.
• Participate in architecture discussions and make technical decisions that balance simplicity and scalability.
• Improve application performance, reliability and maintainability through profiling, tuning and refactoring.
• Work with cloud platforms, micro‑services and CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth deployments and monitoring.
• Mentor junior developers and promote best practices across the team.
• Contribute to proof‑of‑concepts and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Relevant IT qualification (degree or diploma) or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• 10+ years of software development in object‑oriented environments.
• 8+ years of professional Python experience, including production use of Django and FastAPI.
• Strong understanding of SQL and database optimisation.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD workflows and modern development tools.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, micro‑services or containerised environments.
