Senior Public Prosecutor

About the role

The Senior Public Prosecutor leads prosecution work at the National Prosecutions Authority, supervising lower‑level prosecutors and representing the State in court proceedings.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and supervise allocation of work and performance for lower‑level prosecutors, including trainees.
• Train and guide prosecutors and trainees in case preparation and criminal proceedings.
• Represent the State in all courts, leading cross‑examination and addressing convictions.
• Attend to representations, complaints and instructions from the Chief Prosecutor and the Director of Public Prosecutions.
• Lead prosecutors toward strategic goals and operational targets set by the NPA.
• Promote partner integration, community involvement and customer satisfaction within the criminal justice system.

Required profile

• LLB or equivalent legal qualification.
• At least eight years post‑qualification legal experience.
• Demonstrated ability to act independently, professionally, accountably and with credibility.
• Good management and administrative skills.
• Proficiency in prosecuting, litigation and drafting complex charge sheets and court documents.
