Senior Programme Manager

Liberty is seeking a highly experienced Senior Programme Manager to join its Johannesburg-based team. The role suits a professional who thrives in a high-stakes financial services environment and can oversee complex project portfolios from inception to final delivery. You will act as a strategic leader, coordinating cross-functional teams and managing project managers so that large-scale business solutions are delivered within scope, budget and quality benchmarks.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the execution of diverse project portfolios to achieve strategic business outcomes.
• Lead and mentor project managers to maintain a high standard of output and professional development.
• Oversee the full project lifecycle, including definition, planning, resourcing and maintenance.
• Communicate complex project information clearly to stakeholders, ensuring buy-in and progress transparency.
• Direct internal and cross-functional teams so milestones are met within defined timeframes and resource allocations.
• Uphold strict governance and procedural standards to minimise risk and ensure high-quality delivery.

Required profile

• A mature professional profile with more than a decade of experience in project management and business support.
• Proven experience leading teams of project managers and delivering large-scale change programmes in a corporate environment.
• Ability to influence stakeholders and guide teams through periods of organisational change.
• Ability to make firm decisions under pressure and communicate clearly to diverse audiences.

Required skills

• Relevant first degree in Business, Commerce or a dedicated Project Management qualification.
• Advanced knowledge of project planning, reporting and resource management tools.
