Senior Professional Nurse - Day Clinic

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking a Senior Professional Nurse to join its Day Clinic team. The role supports the Unit Manager in delivering safe, high‑quality patient care while enhancing the overall client experience.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure comprehensive and safe patient care by mitigating risks and meeting clinical quality standards.
• Manage the client experience throughout the care journey.
• Maintain optimal staffing levels, retention, and utilisation of resources.
• Empower staff through continuous assessment, development and mentorship.
• Assist in managing operational expenses, including stock and capital assets.

Required profile

• Professional Nurse qualification.
• Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing for specialist units (e.g., Perioperative Nursing).
• Minimum 3 years of professional nursing experience in a hospital setting.
• At least 1 year of mentorship experience.

Required skills

• Pharmacology knowledge.
• Nursing record keeping and documentation.
• Proficiency in nursing processes and procedures.
• Computer literate – Microsoft Office.
• Infection prevention and control.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Mentorship and staff development.
