Senior Procurement Buyer - Cape Town

About the role

The Group is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Procurement Buyer to support procurement operations in Cape Town. The role reports to the Group Procurement Manager and suits a hands-on person who can drive cost savings, supplier performance and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Procurement management: manage end-to-end procurement for assigned commodities, departments and services; source suppliers through competitive tendering and quotation; negotiate pricing, commercial terms and supplier agreements; conduct market analysis and benchmarking; identify and implement process improvements
• Supplier relationship management: develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships; source and onboard new suppliers; monitor supplier performance against SLAs; resolve quality, delivery and commercial issues; drive supplier development
• Purchase order and procurement administration: manage purchase requisitions and purchase orders; expedite outstanding orders; monitor lead times and delivery performance; keep accurate records
• Savings and cost optimization: achieve savings targets through strategic sourcing, identify cost reduction opportunities, analyse spend data and recommend sourcing strategies
• Governance and continuous improvement: ensure compliance with procurement policies, maintain SOPs, assist with supplier contract administration, and prepare procurement reports and KPI dashboards

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management or a related field
• Minimum 8 years of procurement experience
• Proven strategic sourcing and supplier negotiation experience
• Experience in manufacturing, engineering or heavy industrial environments
• Engineering qualification or technical background, and automotive industry experience, are advantageous
• Proven track record of procurement savings and process improvements
• Valid driver's licence

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (Fraxion and Accpac experience advantageous)
• Advanced Microsoft Excel
• Negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills, stakeholder management
