Senior Officer – Marketing & Communications (Level 9)

About the role

The Faculty of Law at the University of the Free State is seeking a Senior Officer to lead its Marketing and Communications function. The role will shape the faculty’s brand, drive student recruitment and manage all communication channels in line with university strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit undergraduate and postgraduate students in line with the Faculty of Law’s recruitment strategy.
• Promote academic programmes through digital platforms, career expos, school visits, subject selection evenings and community engagement.
• Develop, implement and review the Faculty’s communication and marketing strategy aligned with the university brand.
• Coordinate advertising and marketing initiatives with the Department of Communication and Marketing.
• Design and distribute marketing material such as brochures, newsletters, videos, information guides and digital content.
• Ensure all communications comply with UFS branding guidelines and maintain a consistent faculty identity.
• Manage faculty publications, including newsletters, rulebooks and annual reports.
• Maintain and update the Faculty of Law website and social media platforms.
• Develop content strategies for events, recruitment campaigns and stakeholder engagement.
• Monitor and analyse social media engagement and digital performance, producing regular reports.
• Participate in Faculty Marketing and Communication Committee meetings, providing updates and strategic input.

Required profile

• Relevant qualifications (including SAQA accreditation for foreign qualifications).
• Detailed Curriculum Vitae.
• Copy of identity document (South African ID or passport).
• Proof of current or most recent employment (letter, contract, service certificate or recent payslip) for external applicants.
