Senior Java Developer

About the role

Discovery Life is looking for a Senior Java Developer to design, build and maintain high‑performance, scalable systems that support our fast‑paced insurance business. You will work in a collaborative environment, translating business needs into robust technical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and translate business requirements into technical designs that meet performance, security and scalability standards.
• Develop clean, maintainable Java code following architectural guidelines and best practices.
• Conduct unit testing, fix defects and ensure build stability before hand‑off to testing teams.
• Assist business analysts in creating comprehensive test packs and evaluate defect impact.
• Provide technical support, troubleshoot system errors and perform root‑cause analysis.
• Mentor junior developers, enforce coding standards and perform code reviews.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior‑level Java developer in a complex, data‑driven environment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to diagnose performance and stability issues.
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with business stakeholders and technical teams.
• Ability to coach and guide other developers on architectural and coding standards.
