Senior Java Developer – FinTech Transaction Systems

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Java Developer to join a high‑performing fintech engineering team in Cape Town. You will work on mission‑critical transaction processing platforms and third‑party payment integrations, where performance, reliability and security are paramount.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain high‑volume, low‑latency backend services.
• Build and evolve RESTful APIs that power payment workflows.
• Implement event‑driven architectures to enable real‑time processing.
• Collaborate with AI specialists to embed AI‑enabled engineering practices.
• Lead code reviews, mentor junior engineers and champion best‑in‑class CI/CD pipelines.

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
• Proven track record delivering high‑performance, mission‑critical systems.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and passion for quality code.
• Experience mentoring or providing technical leadership is a plus.
