Senior Internal Auditor (Finance) – Level I

About the role

eThekwini is recruiting a Senior Internal Auditor (Finance) in Durban. The post provides an internal financial auditing service across the municipality, covering assurance of programmes and projects through continuous auditing, audit planning and reporting on findings.

Key responsibilities

• Provide an internal financial auditing service throughout the municipality, including value-for-money assurance of programmes and projects through continuous auditing.
• Prepare an audit plan and manage project execution across implementation, monitoring and communication phases.
• Deliver specific outputs as part of audit teams and report audit findings to management.
• Train and coach stakeholders on the audit scope, giving guidance, explanations and examples.
• Keep up to date with developments and techniques in the audit profession; Level II also includes independent preparation of audit plans and evaluation of project value.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (NQF Level 7) in Financial Accounting or Auditing.
• 3 years of SAICA-accredited articles.
• Level I: 4 years of relevant experience; Level II: 5 years (preferred 6 years).
• Valid motor vehicle driving licence.
• Preferred: postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 8) in Financial Accounting or Auditing and registration with the relevant professional body.
