Senior HVAC Technician - Hospitality

About the role

A well‑established hospitality establishment based in Stellenbosch is urgently seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior HVAC Technician to join its maintenance team. The role involves installation, maintenance and repair of all heating, ventilation and air‑conditioning systems across the property and associated buildings.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, service and repair HVAC systems, including chillers, split units, AHUs, FCUs, ventilation and extraction systems.
• Conduct scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal performance, reliability and efficiency.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex HVAC faults and carry out effective repairs to minimise equipment downtime.
• Monitor system performance, including temperature, airflow, energy consumption and equipment condition.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns, emergencies and urgent maintenance requirements.
• Supervise and provide technical support to junior technicians and maintenance personnel.
• Coordinate with contractors, suppliers and external service providers.
• Identify and recommend opportunities to improve energy efficiency, system reliability and operational cost savings.

Required profile

• Technically experienced and highly competent in HVAC and refrigeration systems.
• Skilled in diagnosing and resolving complex faults.
• Safety‑conscious with knowledge of refrigerant‑handling requirements.
• Capable of leading, guiding and supporting junior technical personnel.
• Organised, reliable and attentive to detail.
• Committed to system reliability, energy efficiency and high‑quality workmanship.

Required skills

• Relevant HVAC/Refrigeration qualification or recognised trade certification.
• Senior‑level experience as an HVAC Technician.
• Strong technical knowledge of air‑conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration, HVAC control and air‑distribution systems.
• Excellent fault‑finding, diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, schematics and specifications.
• Valid refrigerant‑handling certification.
