Senior HR Officer

About the role

The Senior HR Officer will lead the full spectrum of human resources activities for Sylvania Metals’ Eastern Operations, supporting a mining environment. The role focuses on employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, training and performance management to drive operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with mining operational goals.
• Manage employee relations issues, ensuring compliance with labour legislation.
• Oversee end‑to‑end recruitment, selection and onboarding processes.
• Design and deliver training programmes and performance appraisal systems.
• Lead community engagement initiatives and promote sustainable HR practices.

Required profile

• Human Resources qualification at NQF Level 7 or equivalent.
• Minimum seven years of experience in a senior HR role, preferably within mining or heavy‑industry.
• Strong expertise in employee relations and HR compliance.
• Valid driver’s licence, reliable transport and willingness to work near Steelpoort/Burgersfort.

Required skills

• Proficiency in HR policies and labour law.
• Experience with recruitment, onboarding and performance management systems.
