Senior HR Officer

About the role

The Senior HR Officer will support the HR Manager in delivering comprehensive HR services across Axium Education’s sites in the Eastern Cape. This full‑time position plays a strategic role in implementing HR policies, ensuring legal compliance, and fostering a positive workplace culture.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, and employee movements.
• Facilitate performance management and maintain fair labour relations.
• Assist with Employment Equity, Occupational Health & Safety, and other statutory compliance.
• Support the Social Employment Fund program and the organisation’s training and development plan.
• Manage the wellness programme, leave processes, and maintain accurate HR records.
• Contribute to strategic planning and collaborate with stakeholders to enhance organisational productivity.

Required profile

• Minimum tertiary qualification in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology or related field.
• 2‑3 years experience as an HR Officer or practitioner, preferably in the non‑profit sector.
• Demonstrated experience in recruitment, employee relations and training.
• Fluent in English and isiXhosa; valid driver’s licence.
• Strong organisational, problem‑solving and communication skills.

Required skills

• Computer literacy with Google Suite, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Office Suite.
