Senior Engineer – Water and Wastewater

About the role

As a Senior Engineer in Water and Wastewater, you will lead complex infrastructure projects that support sustainable growth and resilient communities across South Africa and selected international markets. You will guide projects from feasibility studies through design, construction, and close‑out while providing technical expertise that delivers lasting social and environmental impact.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning, design and delivery of bulk water and wastewater infrastructure from feasibility to construction and close‑out.
• Design bulk water pipelines, sewer pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs, water and wastewater treatment works.
• Perform hydraulic modelling and engineering analyses to support project decisions.
• Prepare feasibility studies, concept reports, detailed designs, specifications, contract and tender documents.
• Provide construction monitoring, contract administration and technical support during implementation.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams including engineers, technologists, technicians and specialist sub‑consultants.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, client requirements, legislative obligations and the company’s QMS.
• Engage with clients, contractors, regulators and other stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.
• Contribute to business development through proposals, tender submissions and client presentations.
• Mentor junior staff and promote continuous professional development.

Required profile

• BEng, BSc (Eng) or BTech in Civil Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA as Pr Eng or Pr Tech Eng.
• 8‑12 years post‑graduate experience in bulk water and wastewater infrastructure planning, design and implementation.
• Proven experience designing pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs and treatment works.
