Senior Technologist

About the role

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Senior Technologist will plan, analyse, design, coordinate and manage civil engineering activities, delivering fit‑for‑purpose technical solutions in line with ECSA IDoEW requirements, applicable codes, standards and organisational quality, safety and environmental policies.

Key responsibilities

• Define, investigate and analyse civil engineering problems and develop design options, specifications and drawings for roads and municipal infrastructure.
• Plan, coordinate and manage engineering activities, resources and schedules, ensuring compliance with codes, standards and client requirements.
• Conduct site inspections, condition assessments and verify construction against design intent, recommending corrective actions as needed.
• Prepare technical reports, progress updates and maintain project documentation, registers and correspondence.
• Support tender preparation, technical evaluation of submissions and assist in risk, quality and compliance management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (BSc/BEng/BTech) and professional registration with ECSA (Pr. Tech Eng / Pr. Eng).
• Minimum 8 years post‑qualification experience in civil engineering, preferably in road or municipal infrastructure design and project delivery.
• Working knowledge of South African legislation, municipal requirements, design standards and construction contracts.
• Valid driver’s licence.
