Senior Dispute Resolution & Commercial Litigation Attorney

About the role

An established national law firm in South Africa is seeking a senior attorney to lead high‑profile dispute resolution and commercial litigation matters. The role requires a strategic thinker who can manage complex cases across public and private sectors while mentoring junior lawyers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage complex commercial litigation matters from inception through to conclusion.
• Represent clients in High Court litigation and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
• Advise on commercial litigation, ADR, administrative law, insolvency and business rescue, tax litigation and general civil litigation.
• Conduct legal investigations and prepare detailed legal reports.
• Provide strategic legal advice to public and private sector clients and analyse legal risk.
• Mentor and develop junior legal professionals and work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• LLB degree and admission as an attorney with a valid practising certificate and Right of Appearance in the High Court.
• Minimum 5+ years post‑qualification experience, including extensive commercial litigation.
• Experience in alternative dispute resolution, administrative law, insolvency & business rescue, tax litigation and general civil litigation.
• Strong leadership and people‑management skills with excellent drafting, negotiation and advocacy abilities.
• Ability to analyse complex legal issues, deliver commercial solutions and manage multiple priorities under pressure.
