Senior Director, Government & Multilateral Affairs

About the role

We are seeking a senior leader to shape policy environments that strengthen the teaching workforce across South Africa and globally. The Senior Director, Government & Multilateral Affairs will design and execute engagement strategies with governments, multilateral organisations, donors, research institutions and civil society.

Key responsibilities

• Lead global strategies for teacher workforce development and build coalitions among public and multilateral stakeholders.
• Develop and nurture strategic relationships with governments, donors and influential partners to advance policy frameworks.
• Advise network partners on government engagement, public‑sector relationships and funding opportunities.
• Identify and unlock public and multilateral funding, translating policy developments into local impact.
• Provide guidance on fellow placement and influence education systems within local contexts.
• Generate and share evidence‑based tools and resources to strengthen public‑sector engagement capabilities.
• Represent the organisation in global and regional discussions on the future of the teaching profession.
• Facilitate cross‑sector convenings and collaborate with regional and global teams to ensure coordinated support.

Required profile

• 12+ years of experience in government relations, public administration, international development, public policy or a closely related field.
• Proven track record working with governments, multilateral organisations, development agencies or donors.
• Strong ability to navigate complex political and institutional environments.
• Excellent advisory and partnership‑building skills.
