Senior Debtors Manager

About the role

A permanent Senior Debtors Manager position in Pretoria East, within a professional services environment, leads the end-to-end management of accounts receivable and billing. The role oversees accurate billing, manages customer accounts and keeps cash flow strong through structured collection strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Debtors: file all documentation correctly every Friday; collect remittances from clients and process bank statements daily in Pastel; keep updated debtor lists and reports on the Intranet and Pastel.
• Aggressively recover outstanding payments by visiting clients, frequent calls and daily follow-ups, and negotiate payoff deadlines or payment plans.
• Report cash flow available two weeks before month-end, inform management of funds available for payroll and creditors, and forecast income.
• Keep account status and database updated daily, maintain monthly debtor age analyses and alert superiors about debtors unwilling or unable to pay.
• Billing: prepare and authorise invoices daily, assign client codes, send invoices daily (recurring invoices on the last day of the month), minimise credit notes and process credit notes, journals, general ledger, trial balance and income projection reports with the Business Manager.
• Update Vantage portals (Broll, Exxaro, Distell and others) monthly, check accrual, loan, intercompany and billing reconciliation accounts, administer month-end procedures and assist with monthly journals.
• Handle client queries, complaints and legal action where necessary, and follow other instructions from the Business Manager.
