Senior Buyer Footwear & Accessories

About the role

The Buyer III at The FIX is responsible for selecting and sourcing trend-driven footwear and accessories that fit the brand strategy and customer expectations. The role covers market analysis, supplier negotiation and product assortment planning, and includes mentoring junior team members and working with key stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Sourcing, developing and procuring merchandise in line with company strategy and customer needs
• Driving supplier relationships and targets, and negotiating to meet and exceed KPIs
• Working with planners using past sales patterns, market trends and brand initiatives to define departmental strategies and secure stock
• Building and maintaining relationships with employees, suppliers and other functions
• Translating global trends (TikTok, streetwear, music, influencers) into The FIX products, localising them for South African Gen Z, building monthly trend stories and drops, and defining key items and hero silhouettes per drop
• Going on buying trips locally and internationally, and contributing to growth and profit with innovative ideas

Required profile

• Diploma, graduate degree or postgraduate degree
• At least 4 years of experience as a Buyer
• Strong understanding of the clothing retail cycle and buying process, and of the Quick Response model
• Ability to work with the planner and mentor junior team members

Required skills

• Good working knowledge of computer software; Excel, Word and e-mail preferred
• Negotiation, planning, organisation and analytical skills
• Product development, supplier management, market research and analysis, policy and procedures, and coaching and mentoring
