Senior BI Analyst - Team Lead

About the role

Our client in the automotive sector is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to lead a small team of analysts. Based in Randburg, Gauteng, you will act as the primary data partner for sales, finance, marketing, operations and product stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, develop and manage a team of three analysts, allocating work, reviewing quality and supporting growth.
• Maintain daily automated reports on leads, listings, promoted listings, sold listings and market monitoring.
• Deliver weekly ad‑hoc data requests and produce monthly/quarterly commercial analyses, industry reports and press‑ready data articles.
• Track commercial KPIs such as take rate, ROS/MDS, LPL per dealer, slot utilisation and dealer profitability.
• Build and maintain dashboards in Tableau and Apache Superset, and create reporting templates in Excel and Google Sheets.
• Write and maintain complex SQL queries and automated data pipelines across internal databases.
• Cleanse, verify and ensure data integrity for analysis and modelling.
• Apply predictive and statistical techniques (e.g., churn modelling, demand forecasting, pricing elasticity, anomaly detection) and collaborate with engineering to productionise models.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics or data science.
• 1–2 years of experience leading or mentoring a team.
• Proven ability to manage a high‑volume, multi‑stakeholder request backlog independently.
• Strong communication skills to translate complex data into clear business narratives.
• Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience in online classifieds, proptech or the automotive industry is a plus.

Required skills

• Expert‑level SQL.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with Tableau and Apache Superset.
• Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills.
• Familiarity with GA4.
