Senior BI Analyst

About the role

Candide, an AI-first tech company based in the Cape Winelands, builds the digital products behind luxury hospitality and lifestyle estates. It is hiring a Senior BI Analyst for its Insights & Predictive Analytics pod, which covers reporting, metric definitions, self-service analytics and forecasting. The role is hands-on, with most time spent building, checking and delivering reports and models, and works closely with the Head of Data & CRM.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the go-to analyst for the business areas you cover, propose metrics and indicators, and turn business questions into trusted reports.
• Build reports, measures and model extensions on shared, certified models, writing and interpreting SQL.
• Own one or more semantic models and help set standards for modelling, naming, measures and report design.
• Help set up reporting to production, including version control, testing and review, and agree data and business rules with Data Engineering.
• Drive metric governance and data quality, document metrics, check numbers against source and retire unused reports.
• Lead forecasting for your areas, track accuracy against actuals and explain uncertainty.
• Enable self-service and train report users, and document your work.
• Review modelling, code and reports across the pod, pair with the Data Analyst, take part in hiring and onboarding, and share AI-assisted workflows.

Required profile

• A relevant tertiary degree (e.g. Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics or Business Analytics).
• Typically 6+ years in BI or data analysis, with a strong record of delivering reports and owning delivery end to end.
• Experience designing semantic models that other analysts reuse, and evidence that a report or metric you delivered changed a decision.
• Advantageous: setting standards others followed, guiding or reviewing other analysts, forecasting in Python or R, hospitality or financial reporting experience, Afrikaans.

Required skills

• Hands-on Power BI or a comparable BI tool, including DAX or similar, data modelling, data preparation and publishing.
• Strong SQL and a cloud data platform such as BigQuery.
• Version control and CI/CD for BI or data work.
