Senior Associate - Litigation Dispute Resolution - Sandton

About the role

The firm is a niche law practice with offices in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban, seeking a Senior Associate to join its Litigation & Dispute Resolution team in Sandton. The successful candidate will independently manage complex commercial, administrative and constitutional litigation matters while providing strategic advice to both public and private sector clients.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and conduct commercial litigation across all courts, including High Court and Constitutional Court.
• Draft pleadings, heads of argument, affidavits and correspondence for litigation and dispute resolution matters.
• Handle administrative, public and constitutional law cases involving government and state entities.
• Provide strategic legal advice and risk assessments to clients in diverse sectors.
• Engage directly with clients, counsel and stakeholders to deliver practical solutions.
• Manage multiple cases under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
• Supervise and mentor junior associates within the litigation department.

Required profile

• Admitted attorney with a valid practising certificate.
• Minimum 3–6 years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in litigation.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead case teams.
• Strong organisational skills with a high degree of professional integrity.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication abilities.
• Entrepreneurial, self‑motivated mindset and willingness to work beyond standard hours when required.
