Senior Android Software Engineer

About the role

Old Mutual is seeking a Senior Android Software Engineer to join its Group Technology & Transformation App Platform team. You will lead the full lifecycle of Android applications, shape architectural decisions, and mentor a growing team of developers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain high‑performance Android apps.
• Build modern UIs with Jetpack Compose in close collaboration with designers.
• Define and enforce MVVM and Clean Architecture patterns for modular, testable code.
• Apply best‑practice Android libraries such as Coroutines, Hilt, and other Jetpack components.
• Manage source control with Git, ensuring robust branching and pull‑request workflows.
• Integrate RESTful APIs and third‑party services securely.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, Gradle builds, and handle releases to Google Play and internal platforms.
• Mentor junior and intermediate engineers, fostering technical excellence.
• Create custom Gradle tasks using Kotlin DSL to improve build efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years of professional Android development experience.
• Proven track record delivering production‑grade Android applications.
• Strong knowledge of Kotlin, Java, Coroutines, and Flows.
• Hands‑on experience with Jetpack Compose and modern Android architecture components.
• Deep understanding of Material Design and Android UI guidelines.
• Experience with modular architecture and Azure cloud services.
