Senior Accountant

About the role

FNZ is looking for a Senior Accountant to support the full range of its finance function, from taking part in monthly reporting to owning a variety of day-to-day processes. The role reports to the Finance Manager and calls for attention to detail and good communication skills to maintain a high and consistent reporting standard. It suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced, challenging environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly SLT/Board reporting, including variance analysis and KPI reporting, and assist with quarterly FSCA reporting
• Assist with monthly payroll and pension calculations, and prepare monthly VAT returns for the FNZ
• Prepare monthly PAYE submissions to SARS and annual and provisional tax calculations and returns
• Prepare and review journals to be posted to the ledger, and assist in expenditure review and balance sheet reconciliations
• Act as a liaison between the Finance team and other parts of the business, including Client Directors, and provide analytical reviews that challenge business performance and forecasting
• Manage the client invoicing process, review client balances for overdue amounts, and track aged debtors and payments

Required profile

• Full professional accountancy qualification (SAIPA, ACA, CA(SA) or CIMA)
• 10-12 years of financial experience
• Intermediate to advanced level on Microsoft Excel
• Good verbal and written communication, attention to detail and ability to work independently to meet deadlines
• Preferred but not essential: experience of statutory and management accounts, group reporting with multicurrency transactions, transfer pricing, IFRS accounting standards, and finance software such as Nav, D365, Qlik or PowerBI
