Senior Accountant

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to lead our accounting team, own the annual financial statements and tax function, and manage client relationships while driving our Xero and Xero Practice Manager workflows. The role combines hands‑on accounting, team supervision, and client‑facing responsibilities in a hybrid work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, support and develop a team of accounting clerks, reviewing their work and enhancing their skills.
• Prepare and finalise annual financial statements for companies and trusts, reviewing team contributions.
• Prepare corporate, individual and trust tax computations and manage submissions, including provisional tax.
• Own and run Xero Practice Manager workflow: job templates, deadlines and staff accountability across the compliance cycle.
• Manage client relationships and meetings with clear, contextual communication.
• Ensure practice compliance and timely filing of SARS e‑Filing, e@syFile/EMP501, VAT, COIDA and CIPC requirements.

Required profile

• Accounting degree; professional membership (SAIPA, CA(SA) or equivalent) is an advantage.
• Proven experience preparing audited financial statements and tax computations independently to sign‑off level.
• Strong tax expertise covering corporate, trust and individual tax.
• Demonstrated team leadership ability, comfortable holding people accountable and developing them.
• Highly organised, systems‑driven and able to work without constant supervision.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and numerical skills with attention to detail.
