Section Engineer – Trackless Mobile Machinery (Mining)

About the role

Our client in the mining sector is looking for an experienced Section Engineer (Trackless Mobile Machinery) to lead engineering and maintenance activities in an open‑cast mining environment.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with mine safety regulations, policies and procedures.
• Manage TMM maintenance and equipment reliability.
• Prepare and manage the annual maintenance budget.
• Implement and monitor Life Cycle Costing (LCC).
• Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) on repetitive breakdowns and premature failures.
• Ensure workshops are adequately equipped and maintained to required engineering standards.
• Manage engineering staff, labour structures, contractors and suppliers.
• Manage disciplinary, grievance and conflict matters.
• Provide strong leadership and technical guidance to the engineering team.

Required profile

• National Senior Certificate (Matric).
• Engineering Degree / Diploma.
• GCC Compliance Ticket – compulsory.
• Valid Driver’s Licence.
• Minimum 5 years’ relevant supervisory experience in an open‑cast mining environment.
• Proven experience with Heavy Earth Moving Equipment / TMM.

• Computer literate, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
• Well organised and systems‑oriented.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
• Strong understanding of engineering maintenance and equipment reliability.
