Sales Associate SMB - New Business Sales

About the role

Pnet, part of The StepStone Group, is looking for a Business Consultant for its SMB sales team in Johannesburg. This is a predominantly outbound B2B sales role helping businesses find recruitment solutions that fit their hiring needs. You will identify prospects, engage decision-makers, handle objections and close deals while working toward measurable targets.

Key responsibilities

• Generate new business by researching potential clients with lead-generation tools and prospecting techniques to build a strong sales pipeline.
• Make cold calls, engage business decision-makers, identify needs, handle objections and present recruitment solutions in a consultative way.
• Own opportunities from first contact and needs analysis through proposals, negotiations and deal closure, aiming for daily and monthly targets.
• Spend about 20% of time on existing accounts, identifying upsell opportunities and supporting contract renewals.
• Keep CRM records, pipelines, forecasts and administrative documents up to date.

Required profile

• At least three years of proven B2B sales experience, ideally focused on new business and outbound sales.
• Comfortable making high volumes of cold calls and talking to business decision-makers.
• Ability to ask questions, understand needs, overcome objections and recommend solutions.
• Experience managing opportunities through to proposals, negotiations and closing.

Required skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• CRM record keeping.
