SAICA Trainee – Audit & Accounting Clerk

About the role

Our client is looking for a motivated SAICA trainee to join their professional accounting and audit team in Stellenbosch. This position offers practical exposure to auditing, accounting, taxation and financial reporting within a SAICA‑approved training environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with external audit engagements for a variety of clients.
• Perform audit procedures in line with SAICA and auditing standards.
• Prepare audit working papers and supporting documentation.
• Support financial statement preparation and analysis.
• Conduct reconciliations and maintain accurate accounting records.
• Assist with tax compliance and SARS‑related submissions.
• Liaise professionally with clients and internal team members.
• Ensure deadlines are met and work is completed to a high standard.

Required profile

• Completed or currently completing a SAICA‑accredited BCom Accounting degree.
• Intention to pursue or complete the CTA/Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting.
• Strong academic record with a genuine interest in auditing and accounting.
• Good understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
