SAICA Clerk (Trainee Accountant) – Caledon

About the role

Our client, a well‑established accounting and audit firm in Caledon, Western Cape, is seeking a SAICA Clerk who has successfully completed the Initial Test of Competence (ITC) and the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC). The successful candidate will support external audit engagements, prepare annual financial statements and ensure statutory compliance for a diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Manage external audit engagements from planning through to final completion, preparing robust working papers and performing substantive testing.
• Compile annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS/IFRS for SMEs and other relevant reporting frameworks.
• Perform bookkeeping duties, including general ledger reconciliations, bank reconciliations and preparation of corporate and individual tax returns.
• Maintain strict adherence to SAICA training rules, professional standards and internal office guidelines.

Required profile

• SAICA‑accredited BCom Accounting degree or equivalent postgraduate qualification (CTA/PGDA).
• Successful completion of both the ITC and APC examinations.
• Fluent in both Afrikaans and English (written and spoken) to serve the client demographic.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable personal transport for client visits.

Required skills

• Strong computer literacy with working knowledge of MS Excel.
