Robotics & Mechatronics Engineer

About the role

BATTALION is seeking a Robotics / Mechatronics Engineer to join its team in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal. You will work on the development, integration, and support of autonomous mobile robots and industrial automation systems that operate in real‑world factory environments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software for AGVs and autonomous robotic platforms.
• Integrate software with sensors, motor controllers, I/O modules and industrial communication devices.
• Work with ROS2, Linux‑based controllers, CANbus, Ethernet and related networking technologies.
• Troubleshoot hardware‑software interactions on physical machines.
• Support testing, commissioning and continuous improvement of robotic solutions.
• Collaborate closely with electrical, mechanical and technical teams.

Required profile

• Strong work ethic, practical problem‑solver and creative thinker.
• Willingness to work hands‑on with machines as well as at the desk.
• Ability to diagnose issues across software, hardware, communication, sensor, network or control domains.
