RN Scrub Nurse – Day Theatre (Kimberley, Northern Cape)

About the role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse to work as a Scrub Nurse in a day theatre environment. You will provide safe, effective peri‑operative care, maintain sterile technique and support surgeons throughout a variety of procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the theatre, instruments and equipment according to each procedure’s requirements.
• Maintain strict aseptic and infection‑control standards during all surgeries.
• Scrub for multiple surgical specialties, including general, orthopaedic, ophthalmic, ENT, gynaecological and minor procedures.
• Anticipate surgeon needs, conduct instrument counts and ensure accurate documentation.
• Assist with patient positioning, prepping and draping, and collaborate with the circulating nurse.
• Handle, clean and dispatch instruments post‑procedure and support recovery room processes when required.
• Maintain clinical records in line with HPCSA/SANC regulations and participate in stock control and theatre readiness.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (SANC) with a current registration.
• Minimum two years of theatre scrub experience; private‑hospital experience is an advantage.
• Proven competency across multiple surgical disciplines.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced day‑theatre setting.
• Availability Monday‑Friday day‑theatre hours, with occasional extended hours.
