Rewinderman – Paper Rewinding Operator

About the role

We are hiring a Rewinderman to operate Mason Scott and No.2 Jagenberg rewinding machines, producing paper reels that meet customer specifications in a safe, efficient manner.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect equipment and report defects to the supervisor.
• Prepare the machine for start‑up and load reels using the hydraulic backstand.
• Read the Master Production Schedule, order paper reels and cores, and feed paper through the machine.
• Operate the rewinder to cut and wind paper, monitoring quality, tension, trim, and any abnormalities.
• Eject completed reels, measure width and diameter for accuracy, and assist with shaft removal.
• Troubleshoot machine issues together with the supervisor and plan tasks to minimise downtime.

Required profile

• Grade 12 and/or NQF Level 4 qualification.
• At least 18 months of plant operations experience.

Required skills

• Operation of Mason Scott and Jagenberg rewinding machines.
• Hydraulic backstand handling.
• Machine safety inspection and reporting.
• Measurement of reel width and diameter.
• Troubleshooting of rewinding equipment.
