Restaurant Manager - Breakfast and Lunch Service

About the role

The President Hotel is seeking an experienced Restaurant Manager to lead its breakfast and lunch operations. This role is pivotal in creating the first lasting impression for guests, ensuring warm hospitality, flawless service, and meticulous attention to detail throughout the day.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the entire breakfast and lunch service from pre‑service briefing to service completion.
• Oversee reservations, table allocations, buffet presentation, and overall guest experience.
• Welcome guests, host VIPs, and coordinate special occasions and dietary requirements.
• Inspire, coach, and develop the front‑of‑house team.
• Collaborate closely with the Executive Chef and kitchen brigade to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Maintain exceptional buffet presentation, food quality, and service standards.
• Drive revenue through personalised guest engagement and strategic upselling.
• Manage team performance, shift scheduling, and daily operational standards.
• Ensure hygiene, food safety, and compliance standards are met.
• Resolve guest concerns professionally while creating memorable dining experiences.

Required profile

• Matric / Grade 12; hospitality qualification or hotel school diploma is advantageous.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Restaurant Manager in a 4‑star/5‑star hotel, luxury restaurant, or high‑end dining environment.
• Proven experience managing high‑volume breakfast and lunch services.
• Strong food and beverage knowledge, including buffet and à la carte service.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and guest‑relations skills.
• Ability to work weekends, public holidays, and flexible shifts.
• South African citizenship or valid work permit.
• Professional grooming and presentation.

Required skills

• Experience with restaurant reservation and POS systems.
• Familiarity with Opera PMS (hotel property management system).
