Resource Geology and Permitting Manager

About the role

The role provides support to all South African sites in geology, mining and permitting, ensuring a reliable ore supply and an economical extraction approach. It focuses on managing mineral resources, mid‑to‑long‑term mine planning, scheduling and environmental compliance to secure future operational continuity.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and update resource models, annual LOM planning and BMR updates for all sites.
• Manage permitting processes, including MR and MP applications, renewals and Section 102 amendments.
• Maintain the 5‑year strategy covering ore scheduling, exploration and mining plans.
• Oversee environmental compliance, financial provisions, NAEIS and GHG reporting.
• Lead capex projects, exploration campaigns and green/brown‑field prospecting.
• Process and validate geological data using Leapfrog and Surpac, and perform quarterly reconciliations.
• Implement QA/QC for drilling campaigns and manage mining contractors.
• Coordinate with government authorities such as DMRE, DWS, LEDET and SAHRA.
• Support M&A projects and supervise a team of geologists and technicians.

Required profile

• BSc (Honours) in Geology with at least 15 years of experience supporting open‑pit mining and field exploration.
• Advanced proficiency with Leapfrog and Surpac modelling software.
• Registered scientist with SACNASP.
• Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and lead teams.
• Willingness to work in hot environments and travel across South Africa.
