Resident Engineer – Bridge Construction (CCS Candy)

About the role

SMEC is seeking a Resident Engineer (or Senior Assistant Resident Engineer) to support the construction supervision of the landmark Msikaba River Bridge project in the Eastern Cape. The role focuses on detailed construction programme monitoring, reporting and contract administration.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and update the construction programme using CCS Candy software.
• Manage technical and contractual issues on‑site.
• Coordinate resources for site supervision and ensure compliance with the firm’s Quality Management System.
• Track progress of on‑site and off‑site production processes.
• Prepare quantities, payment certificates and variation orders.
• Compile completion and close‑out reports at project hand‑over.

Required profile

• 6‑15 years of construction or construction‑supervision experience, with at least 5 years managing programmes for major infrastructure projects.
• BSc Engineering or equivalent qualification; certification for operating CCS Candy is preferred.
• Proven expertise in construction planning and programming software, specifically CCS Candy.
• Fluent English communication skills.
