Registered Nurse – Surgical Unit

About the role

Life Bayview Private Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its Surgical Unit. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the nurse will deliver holistic patient care while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to support the hospital’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage staff and stock costs by evaluating labour hours and controlling debit/credit entries.
• Minimise stock waste and ensure equipment maintenance.
• Provide high‑quality patient care, conduct daily care rounds and address complaints.
• Communicate accurate information to patients and families throughout hospitalization.
• Implement SHEQ and infection‑control measures to reduce risk and comply with ISO standards.
• Build effective relationships with doctors, patients, and other stakeholders, aligning with their preferences and needs.

Required profile

• Relevant Degree or Diploma in Nursing with current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Experience working in medical or surgical wards, preferably in a private‑healthcare setting.
• Understanding of private‑healthcare industry challenges is an advantage.
• Computer proficiency and a valid driver’s licence with ability to travel.
