Registered Nurse – Renal Qualified

About the role

A vacancy exists for a Registered Nurse – Renal Qualified at Life Bedford Gardens Hospital in Johannesburg, reporting to the Unit Manager, Sbusiso Magubane. The successful candidate will deliver holistic, high-quality nursing care to renal patients, supporting the hospital’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide basic and specialised nursing care to renal patients, ensuring optimal outcomes.
• Communicate continuously with patients and families about condition and care plans.
• Administer medication in line with ethical and legal frameworks.
• Adhere to internal policies, protocols and quality management systems.
• Advocate for patients, coordinate with case management and notify doctors of any concerns.
• Manage stock and staff hours according to unit policies.
• Maintain infection control standards and complete SHEQ alerts and incident reports.
• Support multidisciplinary team by executing doctors’ requests and assisting with procedures.
• Check and report equipment status daily, and educate staff on proper use of specialised instruments.
• Ensure accurate record keeping in compliance with legal and ethical requirements.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or diploma in Nursing; additional qualification in Nephrology is essential.
• Strong customer orientation, energetic, well-organised and able to work under pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work within a flexible hours and call system.
• Team‑player with the ability to communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and training of staff.
